Description

Crucible Industries’ CPM REX 121 is a high-vanadium, cobalt-bearing tool steel designed to offer the greatest wear resistance, attainable hardness, and red hardness available in a high speed steel.  Created to bridge the performance gap between high-alloy tool steels and carbide materials in demanding industrial applications, when applied to knife blades, it offers extreme hardness and unequalled edge retention. This unique expression of the popular Sage 5 showcases REX 121’s remarkable properties in its full-flat-ground, satin-finished blade. To further distinguish its elite status, it also features distinctive burnt-orange-colored peel-ply-textured G-10 scales. All other features of this knife are consistent with the proven Sage 5 platform, including nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners, a high-strength Compression Lock mechanism, and a reversible wire clip that supports ambidextrous tip-up carry.

    Great knife! Was a little dull but easily taken care of. This was my first purchase here and def won’t be my last. Rob’s customer service is second to none.

    Finally have the Holly Grail of Edge retention. I'll probably never need to sharpen it...ever. I find the fit of the G10 to be off...the coil on top is recessed enough to be untouchable, therefore of no use. The compression lock is equally recessed (unlike my Para 3 which is smack on level with the FRN edge), making the unlocking action slightly challenging. So the scales are the problem. I would recommend FRN over these G10 scales. Will I return it ? Not on your life...The action is smooth and the edge is Spyderco sharp. National Knives prices and service is head and shoulders above the rest...This is my 3rd knife in a couple of months from them. Thanks folks...I'll be back. So many Spyderco knives...so little time.

    Fit and finish are excellent! Action and ergos are on point, too. Bevels are even and the blade is sharp as a razor. Can't beat the price and shipping. Thanks again, National Knives.

    As with most Taichung examples I have, the fit and finish of this Sage5 is exceptional. The grind is very clean and came razor sharp. The design is one of the best, flickable and smooth, just the right size with perfect ergos. I have a few knives in REX121 but none this thin. Should be an excellent EDC.
