Crucible® CPM® REX® 45 is a super-high-speed particle metallurgy tool steel enriched with large volumes of cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium. Its high cobalt content increases the steel’s attainable hardness and enhances the positive properties of the steel’s other alloys. The addition of vanadium promotes the formation of vanadium carbides, which provide high wear resistance, fine grain size and increased toughness.

A true steel connoisseur’s blade material, REX 45 is an ideal steel for this prestigious Manix 2 Sprint Run produced in our USA factory. To further distinguish this unique steel, all REX-45-bladed models feature a distinctive burnt-orange handle color.

My Preferred Platform...

I've been waiting for the Manix 2 to come out in REX 45 w/G10 scales and it's finally here! The fit & finish is truly 'Golden', the blade is well centered and of course the blade bevel grinds are off :); no worries though as a few sharpenings will fix that! The CBBL lock is what I've come to expect and the blade on this one drops smoothly when activating the lock. I prefer this model over the PM2 due to the slightly thinner blade stock. I've had/used the PM2 REX 45 model for a couple years and appreciate this steel (it does patina with usage), though now that I have this the PM2 has moved on to a new owner. Thx to National Knives for sending the useful micro fiber cloth.. and now to put this one to work!
