Description

CPM MagnaCut is a revolutionary knife steel that challenges the logic of conventional metallurgy to deliver an outstanding balance of edge retention, toughness, and extreme corrosion resistance. Based on our extensive in-house testing, Spyderco determined it to be worthy of inclusion in our elite Salt® Series of knives. The precision-machined blade of this Para Military 2 Salt takes full advantage of MagnaCut’s remarkable qualities. Full-flat ground for optimal edge geometry, it is paired with a handle featuring G-10 scales with alternating black and yellow layers. Spyderco’s signature Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern is painstakingly machined into the scale surfaces, revealing the underlying yellow layer and creating a high-visibility, color-contrasting, non-slip pattern. Consistent with its Salt theme, the knife’s nested liners, fully configurable four- position pocket clip, and all other hardware are crafted from fearlessly corrosion-resistant marine-grade materials.

    Another Great Para2 Option

Posted by Virgil on 9th Jun 2025

I have many examples of the Para2 in various steels, and this one is exactly what I've come to expect from them - excellent workmanship, well centered blade, smooth movement, symmetrical grinds, sharp edge out of the box, and excellent steel. There's a reason why I love Spyderco knives! I like the look of the layered and textured G-10, very striking and unique for this model. Spyderco seems to do their Magnacut right, so I'm looking forward to working with this one. It's nice to find a retailer that not only has one but is also as quick to ship out. Way to go National Knives.

    Nice Para 2

I have a few PM2/Military models of varying quality. Very happy with the quality of this salt sample. Action is perfect out of the box, blade grind is symmetrical, dead centered, and the factory edge is the best I've received on a Spyderco or any knife, slicing paper towels like butter. It has a few quirks though. The detent is insanely strong, like 3 times as strong as the Military 2 I recently bought. Almost feels like a powerful magnet is holding the blade closed. Also there is a sharp edge on the nub that separates the forward jimping from the heel of the blade. The detent will hopefully wear in, and I will just sand the sharp edge down. It's a matter of preference, but I like the dark engravings on other Spydies more than the ghostly faint markings on these magnacut blades. Overall great knife, the action is really impressive without tuning it. The blade sure rockets out with that herculean detent. Oh and the factory pocket clip screws were secured by several individuals using a 30 foot long wrench, as usual. If you want to torture test your torx bits, try removing some Spyderco pocket clips. It's the usual annoyance with their ancient practice of tip down clips. Not too much has changed since I bought my first Para 2 about 15 years ago. I'm happy to have my favorite knife in the nice new supersteel. My S30V Para did tend to get small chips and rust spots. I'll gladly trade some abrasion resistance for the better toughness and corrosion resistance. My 15v Military 2 can take on the abrasive tasks. Great service from National Knives!
