Description

This elite Sprint Run™ expression of the Native 5 Lightweight proudly features a blade crafted from CPM® 15V®, an extraordinary material that offers the highest wear resistance of any cold-work tool steel available today. Containing almost 15 percent vanadium, its unique alloy composition creates an exceptionally high volume of vanadium carbides in its microstructure. In knife blades, this translates to breathtaking cutting performance and edge retention. Spyderco’s limited-edition family of CPM 15V knives is further enhanced by a specialized heat-treating protocol developed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. This Sprint Run expression of the Native 5 Lightweight faithfully includes all the signature elements of this design, including a high-strength back lock mechanism and a four-position pocket clip. To clearly distinguish it as a member of our CPM 15V family, its FRN handle is injection molded in a distinctive brown color and Shawn Houston’s “Triple B” logo is laser engraved on the reverse side of the full-flat-ground blade.

    Native 15V FRN

Anneal the Clip, bronze? Sharp out of the box; apex good.. But then for the full experience and to test 15V, it hit the stix at 15 degrees / L. side was 17.. Got SPY Med 2X8 stone JIC and knocked back the L side shoulder as to hit the apex at 15; turned out pretty good. Chatter suggests Diamond, but with patience and technique ceramic stix work. Native 5 lw cpm15v

National knives is my “go to” for Spyderco knives. I had to have the Native in 15v as I have many lw’s in a lot of different steels. They shipped it out fast on a Thursday and I received it Saturday. So very happy with their services. Will be back when the ok wallet allows ?

    I get the hype

Posted by ED on 11th Feb 2026

I heard good things about the native for a while but didnt like the look. AQlso not really a fan of the back lock. Finally decided to kill two birds by getting one in 15V because it was something I wanted to experience. I cant describe why I like this knife so much. Whether its the blade shape or the steel, but I love it. I decided to get the LW because most people said they liked the feel better. I do not like the FRN scales on any knife but I do on this. Its so strange. Thought it was ugly, knew I dont like FRN, also not a fan of a back lock, yet I love this knife. This thing is a slicer

A nice lightweight folder with a solid lockup and strong detent. The 15V steel holds an edge for a long time but is pretty easy to sharpen. The pocket clip works quite well. A knife that fills the role of an edc just right.
