Its injection-molded FRN scales have a Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern for a non-slip grip and are home to nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners, a reversible deep-pocket wire clip, and a full-flat-ground CPM® S30V® blade. Weighing 13 percent less than the standard Sage 5, the Lightweight version also sports a special bushing that ensures precise pivot tensioning and an ultra-smooth action.

Spyderco will donate approximately 5% of sales of the Sage line to the National Alzheimer's Association Denver, Colorado Chapter. The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association provide care and support to families in Colorado coping with Alzheimer's disease as well as fund national programs and research to ultimately find a cure.
My Sage 5 Lightweight just arrived. It is "drop shuttie" out of the box. (Something my Sage 5 CF wasn't.) And its centering is dead on. (Something my Para 3 LW wasn't.) The feel and pattern of the FRN scales reminds me of a Chaparral XL with a compression lock. (And that is not a bad thing.) I think Spyderco has a winner here.
